We have new jigsaw puzzles arriving weekly so the selection varies week to week. Come to the store to see what we have!

This year, we are going to put the December holiday puzzles out the weekend before Thanksgiving so people can have a puzzle for family gatherings or solitary moments over the Thanksgiving weekend!

    The pieces line up in a grid format into rows and columns.

    The pieces are different shapes and there is often no row or column quality to the layout. .

    For the mature puzzlers among us or for those recovering from illness with little energy to spare for a large jigsaw puzzles, here are some puzzles that have large pieces for easier handling. A few years ago when I was home with an MS episode, it took me a week to do a simple 300 piece puzzle! Even now I have difficulty with 1000 piece puzzle sizes. But I still enjoy jigsaws!

    Jigsaw Glue - A bottle of glue by Educa made for jigsaw puzzles. Glue is applied to the top of the picture, allowed to dry, then more layers are added as desired. We have glued several puzzles using this glue and generally let it dry overnight or for the day between numerous layers. Good for 250cc or 2m squared.

    . We carry FELT PUZZLE MATS in the store. Assemble your puzzle on the felt mat and roll it up when you need to stop. The piece of felt with your unfinished puzzle wraps around the carrying tube and is held in place with velcro straps. Mat sizes are 36 x 30 inches for puzzles up to 1000 pieces and another mat at 48 x 40 inches. They are difficult to ship, so we don't sell them over the web. $16 and $20.
    . FOAM CORE: This is a light weight material that you can find at various hobby and craft stores, and most art supplies stores. It is easily cut with a packing knife or razor blade. It's smooth surface is nice for assembling puzzles. When company is coming or you just want a clear space, the foam core can be picked up with the puzzle flat and then stored horizontal under a bed or couch. It comes in various thicknesses.
    . What to do with old puzzles? Spray the pieces in colors to match your decor! Hang the pieces as is or painted to make holiday ornaments. Or make unusual earrings from them. By the way, the puzzle piece is the national symbol for autism.
