3D Wooden Games

Gipf Project

2 PERSON GAMES

Many of these are pure strategy games. There is little or no luck involved-- just pure brain power, pitting the wits of two strategic minds! We carry many of the Rio Grande small square boxed games, wooden games by Gigamic, the very abstract Gipf series, and three Cathedral styles. Several of these have received Mensa Awards.

Warning: Some of these games contain small pieces which can be hazardous for small children.

    GIPF PROJECT

The Gipf Project is a series of loosely connected abstract games. They all make great stand-alone games, but the manufacturers say they can be grouped together as one massive game. From the beginning it was anounced that the project was going to become a series of 6 abstract games for 2 players. GIPF, the first and central game, was released in 1997. 8 years later, the series was complete. The graphics of the boxes are intended to show an abstract game in the midst of the elements, thus symbolizing the human mind amidst earth, water, fire and air (respectively TAMSK, ZÈRTZ, DVONN and YINSH).

Gipf - Add pieces to the board by moving them from the edge. Create rows of four to capture your opponent's pieces and win the game. Gipf is a deceptively simple abstract game that will challenge you and your friends. First game in the Gipf Project.

Yinsh - Sometimes you will have the impression that there is nothing but chaos on the board. You line up a few of your pieces and the next thing you notice is that they have changed color! The more pieces on the board, the more difficult it becomes to predict what will happen. But also the more opportunities you have! So do not worry: you will get your chance. Just stay alert, and you will create your own little bit of order in the chaos!

Punct - The goal is to link two opposite sides. On your turn you move a piece already on the board or add a new piece. But your opponent is doing the same. So, when do you block the other player and when do you expose your own plan?
That left one possibility for the 5th game: the element of spirit, in its broadest sense! The human mind, the mix of conscious and sub-conscious, divine sparks of inspiration, the potential to create. The sense for meaning, art, and beauty. And courage! Linking the elements, interpreting what exists, daring to add a personal touch! PUNCT is a game about connecting opposite sides.
